It's time to build a better Erie for it's animals.
writes, "Due to the number of stray, injured, and family dogs that have been shot
and killed by Erie police officers this year. I am urging
"
City Council to put this issue on their agendas.

They need to strongly consider employing more animal control officers who will work alongside area rescue groups. One animal control officer working from 8 AM. to 4:30 PM. cannot possibly handle all of the calls a city the size of Erie requires.

I also ask that they enlist a stun agent as soon as possible so stray dogs will have a chance at getting a temperment evaluation in a calm setting by a trained professional.

A reduced-fee spay/neutering program funded by local and county governments would be a preventative measure to encourage responsible, yet economically distressed residents to take action against the worldwide over population issue.

With this, a feral cat spay/neuter release program
should also be a priority. Specific breed legistration is not the answer. Erie police need to spend more time finding and stopping the abusive owners who are exploiting certain dogs for profit, and severe penalties for these actions must be taken.

I have an active petition to City.

Erie needs to start acting. Please sign my petiton telling City Council that you want to see these changes made.
You may also call City Council President Rubye Jenkins-Husband at:

Let's hope in the near future our shelters aren't as full with unwanted animals, and our streets have far less homeless strays.
