GROVELAND — Lindsay Bonfanti has been dreaming of dancing on a New York stage since she was a little girl.
A senior at Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa., Bonfanti, 22, has been working on her skills since she was 4.
The 2002 Pentucket Regional High School graduate performed in a historical dance piece last weekend. It was one of many pieces that made up a program called Sharing the Legacy at Hunter College in New York City. Through dance interpretations, college students from around the country show their reconstructions of the 20th century.
"I am generally nervous right up to the show, but it usually disappears once I'm on stage," said Bonfanti, who is a dance major concentrating in choreography.
Bonfanti and her dance partner, Justin Hogan of Cincinnati, performed Antony Tudor's "Little Improvisations." The duo played a 10-year-old boy and his 12-year-old sister who find things to do while stuck inside their homes, Bonfanti said.
She said she was thrilled to perform in the "hub of the dance world."
Upon graduation, Bonfanti aspires to dance for a professional ballet company.
